Windows Explorer Directory

It’s always better to uninstall a program than to just delete it from your Windows Explorer directory. When you delete a program from the directory, there’s a high probability that remnants of the program will be left in other locations, such as the System Configuration Utility and the registry files. Accordingly, I recommend deleting a program from the Windows Explorer directory only after you’ve unsuccessfully tried all other methods of deleting the program.

On the other hand, a program you want to delete may not show up on your computer’s Add or Remove Programs list or the Programs (All Programs) list. In that case, deleting from the directory may be the only way you can remove it.

RIGHT-CLICK the MY COMPUTER icon on your desktop. RIGHT-CLICK on EXPLORE. Scroll down to LOCAL DISK (C). CLICK on the plus sign (+). Scroll down to PROGRAM FILES. CLICK on the plus sign (+) to open the folder.

Scroll up or down to find programs to delete. RIGHT-CLICK to highlight the name of the program. Scroll down to highlight DELETE, then CLICK.

Always check the Windows Explorer directory after uninstalling or deleting a program by other means. Look for the name of the program you just removed. Sometimes a folder for the program remains in the directory and needs to be deleted by hand.
